PBL (Project Based Learning)

About 17 of us had a great time going through Buck Institute's Project Based Learning 101 Training on Jan. 9-11. Everyone learned valuable tools to help us move classrooms toward Project Based Learning models. If you'd like to know more, visit the Buck Institute website here for free downloads, videos, lesson ideas, etc.

Google Search Tools

Need an answer fast? Look no further than your Google search engine. Don't dig through your desk for your calculator or even your phone. Just type your equation into the Google search window...56 + sqrt (9) = and voila you have your answer (it's 59 by the way). Need to know when your mother-in-laws plane is landing?? No need to go to flighttracker or some other service, just type in the name of the airline and the flight number into the Google search window and BAM!....departure time, arrival time, gate info immediately. Want to know more? Make sure you sign up for the Google Search Tools session on January 10, 2012 or April 3, 2012 on the district training website.

Lessons 1 & 2

Evaluation is still going on for lessons 1 & 2. I will contact you personally if there are any changes needed. This does not in any way jeapordize your participation. Please know that any changes that are requested are in relation to compliance with the guuidlines of the grant and are not intended to be a critique of the actual lesson design or benefits of the lesson. There have been some absolutely fabulous lessons which have required minor changes to be in compliance. This is a learning process for all of us and I appreciate your patience and tireless efforts to accomplish the requirements.

Moodle Login

If you haveh't logged into Moodle for a while, don't panic if your login from the fall doesn't work. Moodle uses the same password that you use to login to Novell....so when you changed your password back in January for Novell, that also changed your password for Moodle.

Naming convention for MOODLE

There appears to be an issue going on with file naming and uploading to MOODLE. Keep your file names as simple as possible, especially for Excel files. Instead of using student names in the file, try things like Rubric1, 2, 3, etc. The specific student information should be contained in the file itself.
