We are pleased to announce that the first books published by Wildcat Publishing are now available to read in the library! This was a new venture between the fifth-grade students, parent volunteers, teachers Ms. Adams, Ms. Cooksy, and Ms. Tucker, and library staff Ms. Ayers and Ms. Mullins. Way to go!
When Stanton-Smith students and parents purchased Valentine goodies from the Student Council store they gave more than a gift that would be enjoyed by a special student on Valentine's Day. They gave books to the Stanton-Smith library too!
Proceeds from the sale totaled $500, and a grateful Ms. Ayers and Ms. Mullins accepted the check from the Student Council. The library was able to add thirty-eight new books to their collection with this money, and a special bookplate has been placed inside the cover of each of the books so that the gift will be acknowledged for years to come.
Thank you library supporters!
The visit from East Texas author, Sharon Ellsberry, was enjoyed by all, but especially by a group of fifth-grade Stanton-Smith authors. The eight student authors, whose books are all on display in the library, were selected by their teachers to have lunch with Ms. Ellsberry. The luncheon was held in the library, where Ms. Ellsberry was able to talk with students about their books.
